The Nevada Division of Centex Homes has been a very active Partner in Education with Billinghurst since 1995. Through their generosity of time and expertise the employees of the local division of Centex Homes have afforded the students of Billinghurst several opportunities to review career choices in the construction field, particpate in community projects, and build relations with the school, students and parents.

• Habitat for Humanity

Centex Homes built a new home for a family in need and Billinghurst students held a food and household supply drive to stock the pantry.

• Career Day

Each Spring Centex employees particpate in our annual career day where they present on the homebuilding/construction industry career opportunities.

• Joint Bone Marrow Drive

Centex Homes and Billinghurst held a joint bone marrow drive to benefit a Centex employee with Leukemia.

• Centex Field Trip

Centex has hosted several field trips to one of their new home sites. The 2 hour tour is brocken into four stages: land development, foundation and framing, drywall and finish, and model homes and sales. This has provided an excellent opportunity for the students to see several construction careers "in action."

• Holiday Food Baskets

Annually Centex Homes has helped fill Billinghurst's holiday food baskets for the needy by donating canned hams. The baskets then went out to help make the holidays brighter for many families.

• Seventh Grade Welcome BBQ

In August Centex supplied several of their "expert chefs" to lend a hand at our welcoming BBQ for incoming 7th grade students and parents.

• New Computer Lab

Centex graciously supplied labor, materials, and expertise to construct a much needed new computer lab in connection with our library.

• Aviation Workshop

Centex employees Greg Cline and Cindi Pratte volunteered their aviation expertise to present at one of our aviation workshops as part of the culminating activity of an Aviation interdisciplinary unit for two of Billinghursts 8th grade teams.

• Outdoor Class Room

This is an ongoing project which will turn a piece of land outside the library entrance into a useable outdoor classroom. This has been and will continue to be a top priority of the Centex Homes/Billinghurst partnership.
